Excited about Eating by Ernie Hiers Jim 'N Nick's BBQ

My fave spot for BBQ. Other than the ones that come out of hubby’s smoker. 🙂

Jim ‘N Nicks Community BBQ, serving hometown type BBQ. Their menu includes all of the typical ‘que favorites plus hamburgers, sandwiches, salads, and loaded potatoes. A unique offering on their menu was the smoked ham, which you don’t normally find in North Carolina restaurants.

Friday night dinner. By the time we left, there was a wait.

While waiting for our meal, they served us their complimentary Cheese Biscuits, some of the best I have ever tasted. Dora here. One word. Addictive. Delicious. Melt-in-your-mouth. Impossible to eat only one. Oops. Guess one word CANNOT describe how good these biscuits are! lol.

For my meal, I requested a combination not on the menu, 1 pound of Baby Back Ribs and 1 pound of Classic Spare Ribs with sides of Collard Greens and Onion Rings. Unlike many restaurants, they were more than happy to accommodate me. (Dora here. Special orders DO NOT upset them.) The baby backs were outstanding, sticky, tender, but not fall off the bone, and very tasty. The spare ribs were great, not as tender as the baby backs, but had their unique flavor. The onion rings were outstanding, crispy, thick cut, and the light batter hung to the rings even when cutting. The collards lacked the deep flavor that I normally expect in greens.

Special orders DON’T upset them. Combo Baby Back and Classic Spare Ribs

Dora here. Check out this humongous Double Decker sandwich! A combo of pork and brisket separated by a bun in the middle, I didn’t even try eating it as a sandwich. Not sure I could squeeze that in my mouth. lol. The pork was sauced with their trademark BBQ sauce, just the right amount of tang without burn. Yum! The brisket was naked with a nice bark, tender but not dry. And I loved the slaw, creamy with a bit of kick.

The Double Decker. Yowza! I didn’t even try eating this as a sandwich. Yum!

The manager came by and spoke with us for a few minutes at the end of our meal. Nice touch! This isn’t our first trip to Jim ‘N Nick’s, but we figured we should clue you in on how good they are. My fave local spot for BBQ. Other than the ones that come out of hubby’s smoker. 🙂

What’s your favorite: Ribs, Brisket, Pork or Chicken?

We would rate this restaurant 5 forks out of 5 for a family friendly restaurant serving outstanding food.
