Diet…that dreaded four letter word

I feel Samuel’s pain. lol.

Up until just before I turned forty, I ate whatever I wanted. Eventually, that attitude combined with less activity caught up with my waist. And since I’m married to a foodie husband who also likes to cruise, life is a constant yo-yo of dieting. We both lost a lot of weight on the Atkins Diet several years ago, but it seems that once you incorporate carbs into your diet again, the weight slides right back on.

Last year, we attempted a healthier approach to include protein and veggies for every meal, including breakfast, and a morning and afternoon snack of either fruit or protein. Same deal. Once you quit the huge veggie portions, the weight returns.

A recent visit to the doctor sent us in another direction…the Mediterranean Diet for heart health. So we’re adjusting to less red meat, lots of veggies and fruit, but more nuts and legumes. I think I prefer this method the most, but it’s too early to know if it’ll result in weight loss.

What about you? Are you on a diet yo-yo? What diet works for you?

  1. I’m on the stress diet, Dora! Seriously, I eat a little of everything, except sweets. If I try and cut out something I love, like cheese, I’ll just eat more. Wishing you and Ernie the best on the Mediterranean Diet. ❀
